The Ed and Irene Fleis Fund Mentoring Program

We feel the mentoring program makes more of an impact than the scholarship alone.  Talking to many "drop outs" from college, most students stated money was the main reason for quitting, but when you look closer, you see lack of commitment and that is why the mentoring program is vital.  Currently we have 18 graduates who have volunteered to support students as they continue their education.  You would be amazed how a personal letter or a phone call helps someone that is struggling.  The Grand Rapids Press printed a few articles that left us with "new" energy about the education fund.  The first stated that the average college graduate's lifetime earnings are over a million dollars more than a non graduate.  The second article mentioned that only 48% that start classes actually graduate.
